Gremlin

Charlie does this thing where he contorts his face into a gremlin. It cracks all of us up. He usually does it when he is being a ham or annoyed. Here are two hysterical examples:

10/11 months

wow...i am a neglectful blog mommy. this is going by so quickly and i cannot keep up. my little charlie will be one year in less then a month. i vividly remember being pregnant with him this time last year. i just am in complete awe that it has almost been a year since that little baby came into the world.

Lets begin with the month of may. it was my first mother's day with charlie. we had a really great day. my parents watched him on Saturday night so i could go out with my sister and sleep in the next day. we went to my parents that morning and had breakfast together. charlie bought me a very nice card and a beautiful bracelet. how nice and thoughtful of him (grammy).

we took an overnight trip at the end of may and went to my friend amanda's house. she lives in the Poconos with her husband and two children emma and abby (my goddaugther). charlie was great! he didn't like the pool that much but he liked playing with the girls. we slept in their rv for the night. now, Ive never slept in an rv. it was so nice! i slept in the bed and charlie had the pack and play at the foot of my bed. He slept like a champ. he went down around 8 and woke up around 8:30. this gave me some adult hours wtih amanda and chris in which i proceeded to drink alot of wine:)

June went by so quickly, I cant even really remember it! The big trip was to Florida. We went to visit my sister and her husband in Orlando. It was just Charlie and I. I will write another blog about that trip. We had a great time. Charlie and I spent my birthday together...it was wonderful.

As for hte beginning of July, we went to a 4th of July parade and picnic. He loved th motorcycles, horses and just staring at all of the kids. It was so freaking out out though....he was a bit out of sorts by the end of the night.

As for Charlie's development...physically he is a hulk. This kid is so strong. He is pulling himself up and sometimes off the ground with just his arm strenght. He is a really good crawler and does it very fast. I cant keep up with him alot of the time. He is cruising around furniture and pretty much anything he can hold onto. He has not tried to walk on his own but he will take a few steps if you hold his hands. He has stood on his own but only for like 5 seconds. One of his favorite activities is to push around this lawnmower looking thing and walk with it. he looks like Frankenstein...its hysterical.

Verbally....Charlie is a talker. I mean...are you surprised? He babbles his face off and I honestly have no idea what he is saying. He does say mama, dada, uh-oh and thank you. I think he may have said bless you and unfortunately it sounded like he said bullshit one time. I dont think he would swear though... haha. Sometimes he gets so excited and will just yell random babbles out. His body becomes rigid and he almost shakes while yelling. other times he is very focused and will totally tune out the rest of the world. He is also a laughter. His laugh is so cute and makes you laugh out loud. It's kind of high pitched and he does it with a wide open mouth. He loves to give you a smile, but sometimes you will get this closed mouth grin. It's like he is just saying, "yeah, im cute....whatevs".

He is such an amazing baby. He sleeps so well and is just so happy. He has such a little personality and i love watching him as he becomes a little toddler. Sometimes work and life can just get me down a bit. EVERY time I see charlie, i become happy. its so crazy....he takes the edge off of my day and off of me. he's beautiful and so loved.

Charlie's first trim

Charlie's hair is a very funny thing. He was born with dark brown hair that always had a big swirl in the front. He had some male pattern baldness during the first few months and then it grew back in blond. He still has the swirl...not sure how that is going to work out when he is older. Haha. It has been growing over his ears for the past month or so and we have talked about trimming it. Well, we did it tonight. Tim brought over his clippers and we trimmed around the ears. He was so funny with the clippers. He was nosy, like he always is, and just wanted to eat the clippers. Here are some pictures from Charlie's first hair trim:)

just like pop pop

9 months

I would have to say that Charlie really made the most significant developmental steps physically from month 8 to month 9. First, he went from his stomach to sitting and then I found him sitting in his crib. He then started to crawl forwards and a week later he pulled himself up to standing. About a week after that he began to clap his hands and then one week later I found him standing in the crib! I am looking at our little milestones calender as I write this and I am in awe of how much he has done in 4 short weeks!

We had our 9 month appointment this past week. He is 19.2 lbs and 28 inches long. He is a very health boy:) Charlie was babbling his face off, like he usually does, and the doctor stated that he has a very strong vocabulary. funny. Then she said, you must talk and read to him alot. I do read to him almost every night. However, I talk to him ALL the time. I mean I just go on and on to him like he has any idea of what I am saying. Now, he will say things back such as: a da, dada, da, baba, nana and gaga. Sometimes, when he is cranky and sleepy, he will say mama.

Crawling is awesome yet scary as all get out. He will be in front of me one moment and then the next...he is across the room! He moves so quickly. The pulling up...sucks. I am like a paranoid maniac. I've been right in front of him when he has fallen and smacked his face. Aww...teen mom.

As for food...that kid will basically eat anything that is in front of him. He isn't super crazy over bananas. He will eat them but doesn't go crazy over them. That goes for cant elope too. He is eating turkey, chicken and beef now. He just started stage 3 food tonight. It had pasta in it...so funny. He eats puffs, yogurt drops and cheese. Um...he may have had some cake here and there. OOH...and he loves his sippy cup. I mean he thinks he is hot stuff that he can drink out of that cup.

My note to Charlie: I love you. There is nothing more to say then that. Words cannot express the meaning you have given to my life. I love my purpose of being a mom to you.

On a cranky, feeling sorry for myself note: Working full time sucks. I'm freaking exhausted. Lets add in being a single parent....sleepy. I have so much help with my parents and sometimes with Tim. However, I just cannot get my crap together most days. I feel like I am always about 10 steps behind. I guess its a work in progress:)

Who does he look like?

for comparison sake I thought I'd throw some pictures of me at 8 months old. I don't have any pictures of Tim to compare but I won't go into that. I think his face looks like me but his hair is obviously not mine. His eyes are much more blue then mine were at that age as well. Also, he is way cuter then me. I look kind of vacant behind the eyes. aww...I was special.
